If the hotel wants too charge these pricess then they should bring it up to expectations.....I would not, ever pay the original price this hotel was asking for.......I got a deal with room only. looks like back to the Royal Hotel for me.................... Not my cup of tea, not impressed with this hotel at all..........Sorry
The prices in the restaurant & in the bar, for what you got, were far too expensive. Come on, £11.95 for a steak sandwich, between two slices of white bread, not asked how you would of liked the steak cooking. No mustard etc etc The steak was that thin, no wonder they didn’t ask I would of liked it cooking . The bar was practically empty all evening, as was the restaurant.....Surely this tells you something........ Too expensive!

I regularly stay at the Portland and find the staff efficient and courteous, the location perfect and the breakfast top-notch.
The Portland is probably overdue for a refurb. My bathroom was in distinct need of an upgrade.

The location of the hotel is excellent being in the city centre. Bathroom and Bedroom were spotlessly clean with a good view of the city. The staff were very helpful and the service was efficient. It was good value for money and I would definately stay there again.

The location is a big plus.
The room was comfortable but it looked tired in its decor, the car parking was not very good considering the hotel is classed as a 4*.The prices of the drinks seemed to fluctuate throughout the evening?

We stayed at portland hotel as we were attending a wedding, the rooms were a bit dated but very clean, I was impressed that we were able to have an extra bed put into our room for children at no extra cost
The breakfast! Not worth the money at all, very dry as you dont even get beans or tomatoes with it

The hotel is very central, giving you the ideal opportunity to explore and provided a great reference point. I enjoyed having breakfast outside on the terrace just over from one of the shopping centres. It is easy to find your way around the city, taxis are very cheap and everyone I met was very friendly.

The bed was excellent but the price being charged for breakfast was far too expensive. The coffee was dreadful and the cost of £3 per cup was far too high.I Used to use this hotel constantly and the coffee was the finest in Hull people don't forget poor quality coffee and will go elsewhere .
Very poor quality coffee which I cannot understand as it used to be the best in Hull in fact I can recall hosting several meetings there and the coffee being commented on.This is my reason for choosing the Portland on this occassion but I'm afraid I'm afraid we were let down.

Portland Hotel was in a good central location for the City Centre, close to all the shops. Very friendly staff.
Can be a bit noisy at night when all the clubs are closing. I thought the breakfast was a bit overpriced for what there was.

The room was really clean and the bed was really comfy. Plus the staff were friendly and the location was perfect in the centre of town.
The parking was a bit of a walk and the room was quite old fashioned.

It had free wifi and it was very easy to access. The room was well maintained and the staff friendly. Very close to the train station and the shopping precinct.
Old fashioned tv in the room and few channels. The bathroom smelled a little of damp.

To old, in need of modernisation, no shower curtain in the bathroom, but a notice saying please put the shower curtain in the bath before a shower!! No information pack in the room, the room was cold with old fashioned heating system, cleaner banging on the door, even though do not disturb sign on door. No Internet in room very poor signal strength, beds not made, room dingy, and after one afternoon sleeping for two hours, left the hotel and stayed with family, at checkout, after voiceing my opininions at checkout, the girl said it was probably because the hotel was in the process of being sold!!

My room looked tired with an old bed that has a hole on the side. The bathroom was also not particularly nice. You pay for what you get I guess!
